Where I stand

Five priorities, and the questions behind them.

Positions are only useful if you can see the reasoning. Each priority below states what it means in practice and the question a trustee should answer in public.

01

Parent voice

Parents are children's first educators. The board should make it easier, not harder, for families to understand what is happening in their schools, ask questions, and have those questions answered plainly.

The question: How will families be informed and heard?

02

Kids can be kids

Schools should be safe, age-appropriate, and supportive. Protecting childhood is not a political position. It is a basic expectation every Area 3 family shares.

The question: What does this mean in practice for learning and student well-being?

03

Strong basic skills

Reading, writing, math and critical thinking must remain non-negotiable. Students must also learn to use AI safely, ethically and effectively: protecting their privacy, recognizing misinformation and bias, preserving academic integrity, and developing the judgment and practical skills needed for college, careers and life.

The question: How will the board measure foundational learning, responsible AI literacy, student safety, and college and career readiness?

04

Fiscal responsibility

Public dollars belong to the community. Every spending decision should be explainable, with transparent priorities, understandable budgets, and disciplined oversight.

The question: What did we fund, why, and what result did it produce?

05

Community and character

Respect, integrity, and opportunity are not extras. They are what make a school a place students want to be and families trust.

The question: How will leadership reduce heat and increase useful participation?

My promise

Six commitments to Area 3

  • Students first.

Every decision grounded in what best serves students.

  • A strong classical education.

Critical thinking, academic excellence, and the skills students need to become capable, independent thinkers.

  • Peace and civility on the board.

Constructive leadership, and trustees who work together respectfully.

  • A true partnership with parents.

Teachers have their union to advocate for them. Parents and taxpayers have the School Board.

  • Children deserve to be children.

Age-appropriate learning materials and a focus on learning, not adult issues.

  • Wise stewardship.

Taxpayer resources spent with discipline and kept focused on student success and well-being.

“Do not judge this campaign only by what I say. Watch how I work.”

How I handle a factual claim

Show the document, name the gap, state the next step

No claim about the district goes out without a source, and no source goes out without saying what it does not prove.

  1. 1. The document

Name the source. Quote it. Link it.

  2. 2. What is unclear

Say plainly what the document does not answer yet.

  3. 3. The next step

State the question I would ask and what I would do with the answer.
